题目:

Our school is planning to hold a new exciting computer programming contest. During each round of the contest, the competitors will be paired, and compete head-to-head. The loser will be eliminated, and the winner will advance to next round. It proceeds until there is only one competitor left, who is the champion. In a certain round, if the number of the remaining competitors is not even, one of them will be chosed randomly to advance to next round automatically, and then the others will be paired and fight as usual. The contest committee want to know how many rounds is needed to produce to champion, then they could prepare enough problems for the contest.

Input

The input consists of several test cases. Each case consists of a single line containing a integer N - the number of the competitors in total. 1 <= N <= 2,147,483,647. An input with 0(zero) signals the end of the input, which should not be processed.

Output

For each test case, output the number of rounds needed in the contest, on a single line.

Ask three people to look out the same window at a busy street corner and tell you what
they see. Chances are that you will receive three different answers. Each person sees the same scene, but each perceives something different about it.

Perceiving goes on in our minds. Of the three people who look out the window, one may say that he sees a policeman giving a motorist a ticket. Another may say that he sees a rush-hour traffic jam at the intersection. The third may say that he sees a woman trying to cross the street with four children in tow. For perception is the mind’s interpretation of what the senses — in this case our eyes — tell us.

Many psychologists today are working to try to determine just how a person experiences or perceives the world around him. Using a scientific approach, these psychologists set up experiments in which they can control all of the factors. By measuring and charting the results of many experiments, they are trying to find out what makes different people perceive totally different things about the same scene.

1.What does the passage mainly tell us________

A、Perceiving has nothing to do with seeing.

B、Perceiving differs from seeing.

C、Seeing is closely connected to perceiving.

D、Seeing has much to do with perceiving.

2.The phrase “with four children in tow” in the second paragraph is closest in meaning to “________”.

A、with four children following closely behind her

B、with four children tied to each other with a rope

C、with four children dragging a rope held by her

D、with four children dragged in a small cart

3.According to the passage, perceiving is an action________ .

A、that tells us information through our eyes

B、that gives us senses in the mind

C、that explains what our senses tell us

D、that makes our mind different

4.The psychologists are trying to draw their conclusion ________.

A、by asking different people to tell how they perceive the same scene

B、by using a scientific approach in setting up their experiments

C、by determining how a person experiences the world around him

D、by measuring and charting the results of many experiments

5.Which of the following statements is NOT true________

A、Different people may perceive the same scene in a different way.

B、That a policeman gives a motorist a ticket means the motorist is fined.

C、No people share the same perception when they are asked to see the same scene.

D、The psychologists can control all of the factors in their experiments.

The United States court system, as part of the federal system of government, is charac
terized by dual hierarchies: there are both state and federal courts. Each state has its own system of courts, composed of civil and criminal trial courts, sometimes intermediate courts of appeal, and a state supreme court. The federal court system consists of a series of trial courts(called district courts)serving relatively small geographic regions(There is at least one for every state), a tier of circuit courts of appeal that hear appeals from many district counts in a particular geographic region, and the Supreme Court of the United States. The two court systems are to some extent overlapping, in that certain kinds of disputes (such as a claim that a state law is in violation of the Constitution)may be initiated in either system. They are also to some extent hierarchical, for the federal system stands above the state system in that litigants (persons engaged in lawsuits )who lose their cases in the state supreme courts may appeal their cases to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Thus, the typical court case begins in a trail count—a court of general jurisdiction—in the state or federal system. Most cases go to further than the trial court; for example, the criminal defendant is convicted (by a trial or a guilty plea)and sentenced by the court and the case ends; the personal injury suit results in a judgment by a trail court (or an out-of-court settlement by the parties while the court suit is pending)and the parties leave the court system. But sometimes the losing party at the trial court cares enough about the cause that the matter does not end there. In these cases, the "loser" at the trial court may appeal to the next higher court.

1.It can be inferred from the passage that typical court cases are().

A.always appealed

B.usually resolved in the district courts

C.always overlapping

D.usually settled by the supreme court

2.The passage indicates that litigants who lost their cases in the state trial court may take them to a().

A.different trial court in the same state

B.court in a different geographic region

C.federal trial court

D.state supreme court

3.What does the passage mainly discuss?()

A.Civil and criminal trial courts

B.Trial court cases

C.The court system in the United States

D.The appeal court process

4.In the last sentence of the first paragraph, the phrase "engaged in" could best be replaced().

A.committed to

B.involved in

C.attentive to

D.engrossed in

5.According to the passage district courts are known as().

A.circuit courts

B.supreme courts

C.intermediate courts

D.trial courts

In the early days of nuclear power, themade money on it. But today opponents have so c
omplicated its development that no nuclear plants have been ordered or built here in 12 years.

The greatest fear of nuclear power opponents has always been a reactor “melt down”. Today, the chances of a meltdown that would threatenUSApublic health are testing new reactors that rely not on human judgment to shut them down but on the laws of nature. Now General Electric is already building two advanced reactors in. But don't expect them even on USA shores unless things change in Washington.

The procedure for licensing nuclear power plants is a bad dream. Any time during, or even after, construction, an objection by any group or individual can bring everything to a halt while the matter is investigated or taken to court. Meanwhile, the builder must add nice, but not necessary improvements, some of which force him to knock down walls and start over. In every case when a plant has been opposed, the Nuclear Regulation Commission has ultimately granted a license to construct or operate. But the victory often costs so much that the utility ends up abandoning the plant anyway.

A case in point is the Shoreham plant onNew York'sLong Island. Shoreham was a virtual twin to the Millstone plant in, both ordered in the mid 60s '. Millstone, complete for $ 101 million, has been generating electricity for two decades. Shoreham, however, was singled out by antinuclear activists who, by sending in endless protests, drove the cost over $5 billion and delayed its use for many years.

Shoreham finally won its operation license. But the plant has never produced a watt power. Governor Mario Cuomo, an opponent of a Shoreharn start up, used his power to force's publicities commission to accept the following settlement: the power company could pass the cost of Shoreham along to its consumers only if it agreed not to operate the plant. Today, a perfectly good facility, capable of servicing hundreds of thousands of homes, sits rusting.

96.The author's attitude towards the development of nuclear power is _____.

A.negative

B.neutral

C.positive

D.questioning

97.What has made the procedure for licensing nuclear plants a bad dream_____

B.it is not technical difficulties that prevent the building of nuclear power plants in theUSA

C.there are already more nuclear power plants than necessary in theUSA

D.the American government will not allow Japanese nuclear reactors to be installed in theUSA

A.stop the Shoreham plant from going into operation

B.urge the power company to further increase its power supply

C.permit the Shoreham plant to operate under certain conditions

D.help the power company to solve its financial problems

100.From which sentence of the article can you see the attitude of the author and that of Governor Mario Cuomo respectively_____
